We arrived home to a spotless house, sleeping kids and clean laundry on Tuesday night. What a treat after a week away. Thank you to all of our baby sitters who took such good care of our babies while we were away. They didn't even miss us.
Avery and Tucker kept asking where their souvenirs were and it was fun revealing the little trinkets we bought. The best souvenir of all was the box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts Chet picked up somewhere in St. Louis, after unknowingly navigating me through some sketchy neighborhoods to find them. The kids were beyond thrilled, and they should have been after all; their parents almost died getting them.
It's back to reality and it has been really difficult to transition into this mode again. There is no room attendant to make my bed or chef to cook my meals or pool attendant to bring me another lemonade. I can't leave my dirty clothes in a little bag to be taken by someone else to laundry and worst of all, there is no blue sky and sunshine. Everyone that lives here is thrilled that it's, gasp, 45 degrees outside! Like, it's so warm! Like, I can go outside without a jacket! Like, it's pretty much summer! And I'm not thrilled, remembering that not too long ago it was 85 and sunny and I could zip around in a bathing suit.
But there are four sets of little arms that keep giving me more hugs and that is truly the best part about coming home. Although they keep asking when we will go to the Bahamas again so they can go back to their friends' houses.
