I sneaked a bag of Robin Eggs, or as Avery calls them, Rotten Eggs, into the cart at the grocery store yesterday, but the kids noticed.
"What are those for, Mom?" Avery asked.
"I'm bringing them to Heidi's tonight." I said.
"What are you going to Heidi's for?" she asked.
"Ladies coffee night." I said.
She paused.
"Do you have to drink coffee there?" she asked.
"Yeah."
"But you can't drink coffee!" she yelled. "You're not old enough!"
I shushed her, but she continued, a little quieter this time.
"Tell the ladies not to eat all the Rotten Eggs." she whispered. "Save some for your kids."
The ladies ate all the eggs, I think. I didn't bring any home.
This morning, she went on a quest looking for the leftover eggs. She was utterly disappointed when she couldn't find them.
"Mom! The ladies ate all the aggs?!" she asked. She calls them aggs when she's being dramatic.
"Yup. We were hungry." I said.
"You should go buy some more." she said. "From the store. Go on your computer and go to Gollage and type in Rotten Eggs at stores in Buffalo."
Gollage. That's a good one.
When Tucker caught wind that there were no aggs left, he hit the counter with his hand and muttered, "That's ridiculous."
I stared at him, wondering what just came out of his mouth and where he learned such language. He grinned, showing me all his teeth, even the ones in the back.
As I started to speak to him, Piper took the opportunity to climb up next to me on the couch and stick a Rummikub piece in my mouth.
